Scott Radke has long been one of my favorite artists. When I first came across his work he was making these incredible marionettes which have evolved into his eerie figurative sculpture. I think the trademark of his work has to be the sad, expressive faces that grace all of his creations whether they are human, animal or something in between. You can enjoy a huge variety of his work at www.scottradke.com.

In honor of daylight savings time I’m featuring the clocks of Eric Freitas. Freitas has managed to combine a dark, unbalanced aesthetic with the precision handicraft of a master clockmaker to produce these wonderful clocks. He creates his own gears and working mechanisms to twist time-telling and push horology into a whole new realm. Take the time and see more of his work at www.ericfreitas.com where you can also buy original concept drawings and photographic prints of his original clocks.

Using found objects and welded steel, Jud Turner fabricates intricately detailed biomechanical sculptures. His stylized sculpture marries the fluidity of organic life with the precision of a machine.

“Using welded steel and found objects, I create artwork which embraces opposites — the tension between humans and nature; the perils of balancing biology and technology; or the combination of ancient fossils with modern machinery. “

Mark Walker

walker2walker1Mark is a friend of mine and a fantastic artist. His cast bronze pieces are an interesting mix of childlike whimsey and dread combining disparate elements, from cogs and hammers to his ever present baby doll’s head. He’s an incredibly nice and unassuming guy with a load of talent and, having met some of the students of his high school art class, obviously an engaging teacher that keeps them inspired. Check out more of his work at www.closer2thebone.com.
