Naoto Hattori says that his vision is like a dream, whether it’s a sweet dream, a nightmare, or a trippy dream. After looking at his work I think most of his dreams are a bit on the trippy nightmare side of things. He’s an amazing illustrator whose work documents a strange world indeed. Mark is a friend of mine and a fantastic artist. His cast bronze pieces are an interesting mix of childlike whimsey and dread combining disparate elements, from cogs and hammers to his ever present baby doll’s head. He’s an incredibly nice and unassuming guy with a load of talent and, having met some of the students of his high school art class, obviously an engaging teacher that keeps them inspired.
